I heard stuff like there are taco bells in every country that pepsi is sold, and that Taco Bell became part of Yum! Brands in the '90s (then what was Taco Bell part of before the '90s?)....

So basically, what's the relationship between the three?

In 1962 after much experimenting with fast food, Taco Bell was founded by Glen Bell, a former Marine. In 1978, Bell sold the chain, consisting of 868 units to PepsiCo. In 1997, Tricon Global Restaurants was founded, spinning off Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut from PepsiCo into a separate company. In 2002, Long John Silver's and A&W were added to the company's portfolio and the name was changed to Yum!.

Yum! and PepsiCo are two separate companies each with their own company officers and stock (YUM and PEP respectively).

PepsiCo still owns other food companies, including Quaker Foods, Frito Lay, Tropicana, and Gatorade.

It appears that the fact that Pepsi is served at Yum! restaurants is a result of contracts between the two companies, not because Yum! is owned by Pepsi.

Taco Bell Parent Company

It's simple.. Yum! owns Taco Bell (among other chains) and is a subsidiary of PepsiCo, meaning it is owned by them. That's why Pepsi is sold at Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut and A&W-they're all owned by the same parent company.

My favorite from Taco Bell is the plain soft taco ... I used to walk in and order 50-100 of those (I had a HUGE family and friends to feed) and they were always 'you could call ahead and they'll be ready when you come in' but they'd get them out in less than 15 minutes AND get everyone else served quickly, too. They always threw in the cinnamon and sugar fried tortilla thingys for dessert (ten of them) FREE ... but I don't eat 'fast food' any more, so if you want, you can have a 'soft taco' but you'll have to eat it for me ... and yes, I'll give you a star, too, just because you asked with a please, which is very polite of you, and because this is NOT a 'Christmas question' or a religious attack question.

I was an employee of Pepsi Bottling Co of Los Angeles CA from 1970-1986 Our 5 plant franchise was owned by Riengold Beer until parent Pepsi Cola Co NY, purchased the Pizza Hut chain and what ever mfg and distribution laws forced Riengold Beer to sell its Pepsi Cola LA Bottling Co back to parent Pepsi Cola Co NY thus forming Pepsi Cola Metro and finally ending up as Pepsi Bottling Group as a Company owned plants but during that time Parent Pepsi owned Frito Lay, Wilson Sporting Goods, North American Van Lines, National Van Lines and Taco Bell this was before they got into coffee and water and juices but explain to me how Yum Foods is not somehow owned by Pepsi Cola Co. NY
