1)
2/9 buy book
7/9*2/5 = 14/45 buy magazine
a) fraction of money save
= 1 - 2/9 - 14/45
= 7/15
b) If magazine is $16 more
than book
original = x
2/9x+$16=14/45x
4/45x=$16
x =$180

2) cow=x
goat=y
chicken=z
x:y:z=5:6:9
x+y+z = 1800

then x=5/20*1800
= 450
y=6/20*1800
=540
z=9/20*1800
=810

we can get ratio
450:540:810

chicken increase by 20%
z1=810*1.2=972
goat increase by 10%
y1=540*1.1=594

z1-z = 162 ( no increase chicken)
y1-y = 54 (no increasegoat)
So, no increase of cow
= 297-162-54
=81

x1=450+81=531

The new ratio
= x1:y1:z1
= 531:594:972
= 59:66:108

c)
A = 3/5B
A+B+C = 72kg
3/5B+B+C=72
C = 72 - 8/5B

d)
cashew nut=x
almonds=y
peanut=z
x+y+z
=24+12+44
=80g

ratio of peanut to mix nut
= 44/80
= 11/20

For mixed nut 3 kg
mass of peanut
= 3*11/20
= 1.65kg
