I'm convinced that this guy was teased and not very popular as a young adult, and now uses his intelligence to make other people feel stupid and very inferior. He is very impatient and has shown this, along with repremanding me, in front of patients a few times. Any tips on how to deal with these personality types? Other than that he's a nice guy ; P

Start looking for another job. Find one and then leave. Do not look back. People like this will hurt you. Employers have no right whatsoever to treat their staff disrespectfully. He's a professional. After you leave, report his behavior to his medical association and to the Better Business Bureau.

Just be who you are and do the best you can.

A long time ago, I was being interviewed for a job at a hospital to fix electronic equipment. They tricked me by stating that I was wrong. They just wanted to see how I reacted to stress. I failed.
I understand now, why they did that.
If a piece of electronic equipment were to fail, then that would upset the doctor and rightly so. I would just have to sit their and let him vent. (I would have probably punched him.)

You might want to think about the way he feels, rather than just yourself. Doctors have to undergo a whole lot of pressure. It is your job as a nurse to just grin and bear it. Let him say what he wants, then just do the best you can.
You could have always became a doctor yourself and been the example, but you chose not to. He, on the other hand, did what it took to be a doctor and you should have respect for the position.

At work, I was scolded by a few different people.
I didn't punch them. I assumed that I was inferior.
As it turns out, I was not alone and found out what other people thought of them.
I felt a whole lot better and what they said no longer mattered.

>>"uses his intelligence to make other people feel stupid and >>very inferior."
People let others make them feel inferior or stupid.
There will always be people to cut you down. You just have to do what you can to keep from letting it get to you. (Guys usually just punch them.)

>>"He is very impatient and has shown this, along with >>repremanding me, in front of patients a few times"
If somebody did that in front of me, It shows that he is an *** and should take those things to other places. There is a time and place for criticism and it should not take place in front of customers or patients.

I agree with patois. You should focus on finding another job, and write down everything he has done to you at work. Also, I have found that people who obsess over a person at work usually have some sort of problem at home or in their personal lives. A person in any profession has an obligation to set an example for the people who work for him or her. Remember not to worry so much about your situation and keep in mind that there is one in every crowd. Also I highly recommend having a stiff drink after work or exercise, or sex. Which ever you choose enjoy yourself first. Put yourself in front of this guy and smile cause your going home. Eventually.

Inform him that reprimanding you in front of customers is a poor business practice. If he does anything to cause is clients to lose faith in the staff, they won't come anymore.
