My parents won't let me get a hamster because they say that they are too noisy at night, as the wheel squeaks when the hamster runs on it. Are there any rodents that are as friendly and easy to care for but are active during the day time? I've had hamsters before and love them. Any suggestions? :)

i think guinea pigs make great pets. me and my sisters have 3 all together and they are all good natured. a guinea pig is a kind and gentle rodent which would hardly ever bite. they can be noisy when they hear a packet of food being opened as they normally think it is for them but they ake great pets. they may nibble the odd time but they mainly lick you, you don't have to buy them any special toys, when it is winter they will need some hay which you can also give them for a treat. they also need lots of fruit and veggies but don't give them too much as they will start to get fat. you can also give them dandelion leaves and you will need to give them a bowl of muesli and a bowl of water. they also live up to 7 years if they are healthy and happy. a guinea pig can also come in different types like Abyssinian and long haired. they are very easy to look after and are very cuddly and friendly.if you are thinking of getting a guinea pig then i would do some research from a book or the internet.i hope my info has helped.

Like other people have said, a pair of female guinea pigs will be more active in the day and sleep at night. Also, they're very cute. I've got a soft spot for piggies, cause I've had a lot. They can live around 7 years with good care. You'll need a kinda big cage, though.

Well if you're looking for something smaller than a guinea pig, then I'd say a gerbil. They are diurnal and always fun to watch and play with. They are however faster than the average Syrian hamsters although that may only present a problem to really young kids only. They look like mini-kangaroos, have huge adorable looking black eyes and they come in many interesting colours to match their interesting habits. They are clean, communal AND they don't have the really string stinky pee like other rodents. Always a plus!

The best rodent I ever had was a medium sized rat. I know, it sounds gross, but they are so affectionate. They also are capable of learning their names, and if you've trained them enough, you can even let the roam the house for a while. They're easy to get on schedule to sleep at night and play at day also. And since they can roam the house, IF YOU TRAIN IT WELL, you won't need to bother with the noisy wheel.

Rats are the best rodent pets. Most people think that they are the ones that are in the sewers or something, but there are pet rats that are wonderful pets. They are loving. They can be trained to come to their name. They can be put on a leash. They are just great in so many ways! Whatever you get, enjoy!

they make silent wheels now for hamsters so they won't be as noisy.

gerbils are active during the day.

guinea pigs are most active at dawn and dusk.

ferrets are awake in the day, however are high maintance, but i would suggest 2 male gerbils, which are much better than hamsters in lots of ways. they are awake in the daytime so you can play with them, and low maintenance, low cost pet. i think they are great!! plus they have a life span of 2-4 yrs. so they are not that big of a commitment.

i'm not precisely particular you are able to prepare a nocturnal animal to flow against it is organic approaches. yet once you rather could opt to have interplay alongside with your animal(s) for the duration of the day, you will possibly desire to consistently only wake them up at a undeniable time generic. After awhile it is going to probable be used to it and only awaken on it is own at that element. success!
