Ok the age of consent in canada/alberta is 14/16.... so does that mean you can be sexually active with someone over the age of 18..... its confusing.... how does it work....

I love how it's only OK to do something if the government tells you it's OK. Sorry, this should probably go somewhere else, but I happened to find this forum. Oh joy -- I turn 18, so the government tells me it's OK to have sex. Whatever happened to people figuring out on their own when it's OK? I can understand laws providing punishment for rape or underage sexual activity (there's a word for that...), but what in the blazes are we doing asking governments to make our choices for us?!

I don't know about Canada, but in my area it's 16/16 which means you can be sexually active if it's with someone 16 years of age or older and you are also 16. There is however a limitation of 2 years of difference between age. Ex. A 19 year old male, cant have sex with a 16 year old female, but an 18 year old can.
You might investigate the limitations, but 14/16 means that you are consented for sexually activity if you are 14/m or a 16/f, which in theory would allow you to engage in sexual activities with an 18 year old but it would also be subject to limitations under the statute of that law.

The Age of consent means that you can legally have sex with older people. Just be sure you're ready. Sex is highly over-rated
sometimes. And there's STD's Pregnancy, etc. Just do a google search on your areas laws and you'll find it.
