When firms hire women, through time they gain experience the firms find useful, and they like male workers are the recipients of investent from the firm, as they are put her through a degree course, say, or to training/conferences....anyhow, some of these women have kids, pocket lots of maternity pay, then leave the labour market for good. I notice that women on the defensive like to blame "sexist, male bosses", yet many of the employers who are most guilty of avoiding women who are likely to have a litter are female!

To clarify, the last sentence reveals that it is FEMALE employers who give potential, female employees a wide berth, if they think those employees are going to have children

"Are employers right to discriminate against women likely to become Pregnant?" I probably wouldn't use the word 'descriminate' after all, the core function of the business is to make money and to remain profitable. I would argue that employers surely have the right to choose the most efficient & productive person for the job. Nothing wrong with doing that. "Should pregnancy be treated like any other health issue that could result in long term absence for work?" Yes. "Could the issue be addressed by offering "no pregnancy" contracts?" Many employers are already doing this but I consider this to be rather inhuman and unfair for women who desparately need income to support the family. That said, women must try their best not become pregnant when they know they are not in a healthy & stable financial position. In conclusion i would say there is no 'right' or 'wrong' 2 this issue. Businesses need to remain profitable and so it would be perfectly logical for employers to consider the factors that could affect productivity. Hope this makes sense.

they get paid for that all year round why shouldn't i when im having a baby

Your grammar is so bad but I think you are slamming women for leaving to have children? If this is right, my answer is: Of course women have to leave with pay to have babies - this isn't the Victorian age! Just deal with it and grow up.
