Anthuriums will thrive in a shaded area with only high filtered light. They are versatile in the types of soil. Should be well drained soil, they also adapt well in very rocky, cinder soil. Once in bloom the flowers can last up to 2 months or better and once that bloom goes you already have another stalk ready to bloom within a few weeks.

anthuriums as in flamingo flowers? i plant them in orchid bark mix with some soil thrown in. they grow really really slowly. if you buy a small one thats been forced to bloom you can expect it to take 3-4 years before it blooms for you. once its established its easy to keep. you can forget to water it every once in a while and it does fine. best in shade.
