Depends on the player, how hard it hit, and were it hit. My mini has been droped many many times and not only does it work like new but it looks almost brand new.

I had a shuffle droped it and the plug poped off.

My friend has a nano and hers is looking bad from being droped.

My aunt had a tiny little thing (some off brand) she droped it once and that was the end of it.

If i were you I would get a mini for your next MP3. Not only can they usualy take a few bumps but you can find them quite cheep. We bought 3 of them for a total of $150 they all looked brand new and all came with diffrent things. Mine had a leather case, Hubbys had a belt buckle clip, and my brothers had ear phones and was totaly full.

What kind of Mp3 player is it and how far up did it drop from. I have dropped mine a few times and I have not had any problems yet.

MP3 players are sensitive, if it hits right and on the flat side other than the cornor it could crack the circuit board inside.
