Before it dies and has to be re-charged?

According to Apple, you can get up to 12 hours of continuous playback time. (See first link below).

However this is under optimal conditions, so it probably is closer to 8. There are a number of things you can do to keep your battery in top condition. These things include keeping out of temperature extremes, Update to the Latest Software, and Use iPod Regularly. (See second link below).

max time is about 12 hours to recharge a thoroughly useless shuffle. somewhat hint the mild on the shuffle would not continually turn over to eco-friendly even as its carried out charging after 5-6 hours hit the eject button and see what occurs.
