Pan-Acer Group aims to grab NT$745 B. in overall revenue this year

Taipei, April 12, 2004 (CENS)--Based on a 40% sales growth projection by Chairman Stan Shih, the Pan-Acer Group, including three subgroups of Acer, Wistron, and BenQ, will see combined sales reach NT$754 billion (US$22.91 billion at US$1:NT$32.9) this year and become Taiwan's largest information technology (IT) group.

Pan-Acer Group saw total sales grew by NT$100 billion (US$3.03 billion) to amount to NT$538.5 billion (US$16.36 billion) last year. Shih said this year all the Pan-Acer affiliated firms will perform better than expected earlier.

At the end of last year, the group projected to see sales grow by 20% this year. But the group recently boasted it would see the ratio climb to as high as 40% because of the outstanding performance in the first quarter of this year.

Seeing the outstanding performance of the entire group, Shih said he would retire by the end of this year because the achievement of the entire group would be the best gift to him. Shih noted Acer Inc.'s next-generation management will be picked up by the incumbent president J.T. Wang.

Acer will challenge NT$202 billion (US$6.13 billion) in combined sales this year. Based on its good performance in the first quarter, the company is expected to reach the sales goal. J.T. Wang said his company will maintain high-level sales growth in the next three years.

Wistron estimated it would grow over 40% in annual sales to challenge NT$150 billion (US$4.55 billion) this year.

BenQ will see sales break the NT$300 billion (US$9.11 billion) mark this year. Of its affiliated firms, AU Optronics Corp. will see sales double from last year's level.
