Some people just really have a difficult time thinking beyond what they were taught growing up. People can be really ignorant without knowing they are, and they need to be educated in anthropology. Social interaction and human nature and psychology is something for everyone. Some people really don't understand gay people because the close-mindedness is so well ingrained. By nature, gay people are attracted to the same sex and fall in love, just as straight people are attracted to the opposite sex and fall in love. And most gay people are born gay. It is VERY VERY SIMPLE, but we STILL have idiots who cannot grasp this.

As a straight person who has gay family members and friends I would never believe it is a choice. Why would anyone choose to go through all the garbage some gay people have to deal with. I hope the day comes where people will not be judged for their race, or sexual preference. I also wish some would not use it as a crutch, to make others feel sorry for them. We are all entitled to the same-things by law and nothing more.

People who think like this way are usually those who don't have a close gay friend or relative and are brainwashed by beliefs that have been handed down. Its just something they themselves don't understand because being straight to them seems so natural that anything different appears to be made by choice. When i say that, I'm referring to a shrinking percentage of straight people. An increasing number are beginning to recognize that there isnt a choice involved in being gay.

I think it's stupid. I'm straight and I didn't "choose" to be straight. When I was a girl and started having sexual feelings I responded to guys. The same thing happens to gay people except they react to the same gender. It's not a "choice". I don't understand why some of these boneheads don't understand this basic concept.

I think it's just Christian fundamentalists who say that. And the reason they do is that if it isn't something that anyone has any choice about, then it can't be a sin.

I ask them all the time exactly when it was that they chose to be straight. Did they want to fool around with both Johnny and Suzie---they got really turned on by both of them---but then chose to be straight because they wanted to go to heaven?

It's balderdash, of course, and I really believe that all but the most mindless among them must know that it's balderdash. They keep saying it though.

First off...Gay people shouldn't be refered to as "these people" Its wrong.
People are people. No one walks around calling you "thing" or "It" all the time.
But personally, i don't think being gay is a choice. At a certain age, you will figure out you like the same sex. You can't deny who you are.

I think you are born either striaght or gay. Since everyone teaches you that dating the oppistie sex is the right thing to do then thats what we grow up thinking but in the hearts of some we know we are gay. You could be ashamed of the fact you know your gayand try to lead a "normal" life or you can chose to be open minded about who you really are.

Because being Gay is a choice. Being homosexual is not. But I do choose to be happy - so I do choose to be gay. Me being homosexual is a whole new category all together.

I think for some it is unfortunately not a choice. Like a disease. Not there fault but I think they are off alittle. Not what was intended to be, but happened. I also think there are alot of people that think it is cool to be gay, so they choose to be. For the attention. Then I think there are the hot Chic's that do it for the wow factor. The bottom line is, you can t plug a toaster into a toaster.

I think it's easier for people to think it's a choice. People who dislike homosexuality want to believe that it's something they can change.

Also, if God or nature intended for some people to be gay, it wouldn't be a sin. Then, there would be nothing to dissaprove of, and what fun is that?

It's all ignorance, pure and simple.
