I find it interesting that the religious right supports the party that is most supportive of American business, which it's main goal, for the most part, is to make money...
the Bible says some pretty rough things about being wealthy and the value of money... how does this work inside the U.S. though, where money is often associated with success... yet many call us a "Christian nation"
what do you think?

Very compelling question. To quote Johnny Depp "money means nothing to me but the freedom it affords." Of course, he is also raising his kids on his own private island. Its all relative. It seems that if one has a lot, they are inclined to say its not really that important, and if one has very little, then it is much more likely to be of extreem importance.
We might be self proclaimed christian nation, but this marriage between capitalism, and christianity is one made in hell. Look at our buddy Wallmart. A big, fat, all american ,christian corporation licking its lips for all the profits made from slave labor and poor single mothers.
Money isnt good. Its isnt Evil. It is a resource. evil people do evil things with money. good people do the opposite.
by and large, its good to have around. Its important to form a good relationship with the money in ones own life and try not to give the evil people too much of it.

Capitalism is the economics of greed and greed is just wrong, so wrong on many levels not just religious. We are put on earth to help each other not step over somebody that is down. This is the Christian way. These people claim to be Christian but when the pull the lever for a repuglican they pull it to further greed, not to help another human out of tough spot. It is the party of me not us. The party has become so much more important to them the the good of the nation that I wonder if they will have any soul left on judgment day. I wonder what part of it is patriotic to pay your fair share of taxes. When did it become so important to drive a Bentley when a Ford will get you there. In answer to your question, I think the repuglican philosophy has turned out to be wrong, wrong for the last 6 years and to many people have died because of it. It was a mistake to give them so much power in 2000 and now are great nation is paying for it.

Actually, the Bible doesn't say "money is the root of all evil, " but rather it says, "the Love of money is the root of all evil." Yes, greed is a very big problem in America for many people, but most of us don't have enough of it to be too greedy.

It's always amusing when someone uses wealth to bash the Christian right, when liberal democrats make tons of money as well. The Kerry/Edwards ticket in 2004 had a combined net worth of over 1 billion dollars.
As far as money being the root of all evil, I think it's the pursuit of money that is the problem. One of my favorite quotes is from a man named Max Lucado who said "Many people choose to sacrifice their health for wealth, then spend their wealth trying to be healthy again."
Don't forget, Howard Hughes was a fabulously wealthy man but he was so stingy and paranoid that he died of starvation.
I consider a life lived only to aquire wealth and status to be a wasted life devoid of purpose regardless of your faith or political affiliation. Greed isn't picky.

Well you have summed it up pretty well, you deliberately left out that this is the land (US) of great opportunities. A right and incentives for citizens to profit off of their dream and ambitions. I don't believe that we are known as a "Christian nation" , that would be practically misleading in statement. There are a lot of people that will argue that, because a lot has not "converted" like the churches want all Americans to do. The only thing missing with those thoughts are that Christian are not strapping themselves with bombs to kill themselves and others up. In attempts to force people to converting like other countries, and start to calling themselves martyr. In fact Christian have already boasted how they are better then others, by secretly exploiting our youths , raping young women in ministries, and stealing the very money people like you and I will give to offerings and tidings.
I would never support any saying such as your aforementioned.

God likes to bless His people. By the way, it's not money that is the root of evil-it is the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil. In other words--Greed. To want to horde all the money, and not spend it wisely, etc. God is the author of all things-financial and all-that is good. Take care.

Money is only a tool. It can be used for good or bad. It can supply terrorists weapons that can be used to kill innocent people, or can be used by organizations to better the world. Like Bill and Melinda Gates foundation that goes into third world countries and fights aids, and provides medications, and research into medicines.
It is what we do with it that determines good or evil. It is intention.

a sin is anything that comes between you and the guidance of the holy spirit of God.It doesn't matter what that attachment is.lust . money .food, greed, vanity, theirs all types of attractions of the world .& of the flesh.that will come between you and the spirit of God.Its fine to be rich as long as it is not your God.nor what you desire most in life.My uncle is one of the richest people in Atlanta, he & his family never drinks .or cuss's, nor smokes, goes to church,he and his family or wonderful Christians.Kind .careing and giving people.my brother is a muli millionare and he seems evil to me.ALL he cares about it that next dollar, It depends on your attitude and if you actually have the spirit of God in you.

I think the quote is "Love of money is the root of all evil". It not the money, it's the LOVE of the money that is the problem.
