I'm not sure if the extra width would cause any clearance issues. This will be in my 1995 Jeep Cherokee.

I'm not sure how the tire will be taller, maybe I'm just confused. 75's are the standard tire height for my Jeep. I'm trying to go wider with a 15x8 wheel and 235 width. The tire height 75 is staying the same.

it can be confusing the first set of # 215 is the width of the tire in millimeters, the second set of # 75 is the height to width aspect ratio. the tires you have right now P215/75R15 Overall diameter is 27.7 & the overall width is 8.50. the size you are asking about P235/75R15 Overall diameter is 28.65 & overall width is 9.10. width can be a serious issue so you need to be concerned with the "off set of the wheel" I think you should go with a P255/60R15 overall diameter is 27.5 & overall width is 10.5 the recommended rim width is 7.5 for this size tire, or P275/60R15 overall diameter 28.00 & overall width of 11.00 rim recomended 8.0. if width is what you want either one probably work best depending on the wheel offset.

You could, but I wouldn't. A P235/70R15 maybe, but a 75 is just too tall.

Overall diameter for the stock tire is 27.6 inches. For the P235/75 it is 28.7 and for the P235/70 it is 27.9.

Any of those will fit on your 15x7 rims though.

If you are going to go to the bother of new wheels, why not a 16x7 with a P225/70R16? That is what Jeep did.

It's not so much the width but the overall height is going to be much higher then originals. This is above the recommended 2-1/2% increase in diameter size.
