Sounds like Eczema. My twin boys had a similar experience. One day the red, dry patches appeared. We started using the Dreft detergent and their Dr. gave us some cream for the eczema. They still have some problems with it from time to time and if we don't use the cream we will use Vaseline. It takes the "sting" out of it and also stops it from cracking so bad.

My daughter is 10 months old and has dry skin really bad to. I use this lotion called Aveeno Johnsons soothing natuarls Moisture lotion. And it has worked for her for the last 5 months. You can find it at Wal-Mart or K-mart. It works really well. I"ve had some of my older friends that have like 9 10 11 year old kids that used it, and they said it works wonders. Maybe you should try that. If it doesnt work i'd take her to her pediatrician and see what he/she suggest. Or there's this kind of soap that is called Cetaphil. I use that to and it works. I hope i am of some help.

I bet shes crawling and more active lately....its probably contact dermititis from coming in contact with stuff on the carpet etc... I've found that chaffed/irritated areas are helped considerably by good ol A&D ointment...walmart has an offbrand thats around a buck a tube and it last ages. Its pretty much harmless if your child consumes it as well....its petroleum and lanolin with vitamins....unless your child eats the entire tube then vomits and aspirates it youre in the clear using on the face and anywhere she can lick. I typically apply it after doing an all over lotioning with huggies shea butter baby lotion, and that typically follows the nightly bath.

drench her in Vaseline, if it doesnt smooth her skin then you know its an issue that requires medical attention. It does sound like Eczema too me, both me and my son (17months) have it but I completely immerse him in vaseline after a bath in the evening and it does wonders. But during the winter when its unmanageable the doc gives him Elidel it works great as well I just dont like giving him to many meds so I try the home remedies first.

the 1st of my 5 toddlers had dry skin as a infant. My well-being care provider instructed me to shrink the quantity of baths she had, as a results of fact the water can certainly dry out the floor. infant creams are not relatively meant to help with cases of dry skin. you would be extra effective off with an "person" lotion it relatively is specially formulated for sencitive and dry skin the two. That way you get rid of a few of the stressful dies, perfumes, and chemical compounds that would worsen your infant.

My daughter has the same problem during the winter. Try Alveeno with oatmeal lotion. She will never have dry skin again. It's also very inexpensive. Walmart carries this name brand. Worked wonders for my daughter.

eczema can start any time. My nephew just turned 2 and the doc told my sister that he had eczema. you should take her to the doc for some cream and try not to use fragrant lotion, i've heard it makes the itching worse.
Good luck

i took care someone who had eczema and always used Lubriderm or Aveeno Lotion. He also had perscription ketoconizole/nizoral(shampoo but can be used on the skin) there is also an OTC version (this was an adult though). keep in mind that eczema is usually flaky but oily at the same time. It is probably just from cold weather and I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I'm pretty sure eczema can just suddenly begin. One of my kids was like a lizard with his dry skin. He still has it and is 23. Eucerin is the best cream that I've found.
