Try www.switchboard.com. You should be able to do a search based on the phone number, or the area code that the number had. If the number is a land line phone, and it is listed, you should be able to get a name to match the number, however, if the number is a cell number, it won't come up. If you just search by the area code though, you should atleast be able to come up with what city the number is from!

Try *69 on the telephone, if it is on this continent then the operator can help, but if it is from off the continent she cannot.
Best way to not get the unwanted caller or telemarketers is to get a phone with a 'Telezapper' all ready in it. Nexxtech has one for around $100.00. It is well worth the cost. No more unwanted calls from unknowns.

Don't go to that WhoCalledMe site... they just want internet hits... If your phone says "Unknown" you will most likely not find out. It's possible to ask the phone company to tell you, but most likely they will say to just get a Unknown Call Blocker on your phone, because they know, it was probably a blocked phone number that just happened to dial a wrong number.
