It would be really sweet of you to pick out a Valentine's Day card designed for kids, "To Mommy," and sign it from your son. Let him scribble in it a little. He will benefit from learning kindness and generosity early-on from his father.
I wouldn't get a gift though, like flowers or candy, until your son is old enough to pick out something he wants to give, since she might take it wrong, and her boyfriend will probably get mad.
By the way, this is also a good idea for Mother's Day, too.

Very classy idea, on behalf of helping your son. As long as it is something that a two year old finds excitement in, then all should be OK. That way there is no miss understanding of the intentions. A Valentine Trinket of a little boy with hearts should be plenty. Happy Valentines Day.

I can definitely see how that could get touchy. If you HONESTLY have no underlying intentions with the gift (showing her you are still sweet, letting her see you are thinking of her, etc.) then I think it is a cool idea. But if it can be misconstruded by her as something else, even in the slightest, then I would leave it alone. There are a lot of other NON-romantic gift giving opportunites and holidays in the year where this idea could be used, with far less potential controversy.

A nice little card, or little box of candy (the mini boxes with just a few pieces) might be ok for you to get so he can hand it to her on Valentine's day, but you shouldn't go overboard. It would be awkward, and not appropriate coming from a 2 year old.

Be the better person put what happen with and her to the side. Make the kid happy and let him pick the gift out. I'm glad there are good guys like you. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY. Good people always get rewarded in the long run.

iI would, but only if it is clear that it is from your son, and not you. A cute Hallmark "to my Mommy", card would be more than enough. A stuffed animal that is really for him would be OK.
Or just give him a card and a gift.
Very thoughtful of you, Happy Valentines.

Screw that! If your son is showing interest in giving something to mommy, then sure let him pick something out for her, but if you originated the idea, don't bother. It could seem like an attempt to rekindle something with her, which it sounds like you have no interest in. Don't bother.
