Is misogyny not only a human social phenomenon, but one present in other animal species, for example in the duck breed Mallards:

When they pair off with mating partners, often one or several drakes will end up "left out". This group will sometimes target an isolated female duck — chasing, pestering and pecking at her until she weakens (a phenomenon referred to by researchers as rape flight), at which point each male will take turns copulating with the female. Male Mallards will also occasionally chase other males in the same way. (In one documented case, a male Mallard copulated with another male he was chasing after it had been killed when it flew into a glass window.

How do female Mallard FEEL with the threat of this constantly hanging over their heads?

Do Mallards have a patriarchy and is this rape about power like all other rapes?

And as a corollary is the lesbian rape scene in the Vagina Monologues about power, or not because it was committed by a lesbian?

Yes but tanga_ber the behaviour is exactly the same. You are assigning a motivation to the same behaviour based on the species of the animal. What is the reason for that?

I think Mallards rape for power and they have an all controlling patriarchy that must be stopped. If we are going to India and the middle east to save women, then why not our own doorsteps where vicious gang rapes occur, just not in human society.

Think of the hurt and pain those Mallards are feeling! You will never have any idea of the hurt caused to Mallard females by rape. Never.

No Wenders I don't know why Mallards rape, that's why I asked. I hear the victims of rape are the true experts so I thought who better to ask than people who are victims of everything like this - feminists. There is no need for such an excessively hysterical reply.

And how do you know what Mallards feel about rape? Did YOU ask them? If not, then are you saying that human female rape victims have no feelings because female rape victims claim noone knows how they feel?

If you think it is bad for humans to do it, then why isn't it bad when Mallards do it? WHY? Mallard females are females and should come under the protection of feminism. I want to help them. If you are in favour of Mallard rape that's your problem, it's wrong no matter what. PERIOD.

You seem to be bothered that Mallards rape. If you want to get turned on, hang around where they rape them and go up to the male and whack him in his balls while he is copulating!

And keep whacking them over and over and over till you get your feelings all out!

You'll probably be panting and your face will be red, WHAT A THRILL EH???

For another THRILL Yahoo "Arkancide" and be takes for a ride with some fark'n hillbullies!

These are ducks.. they don't think about rape.. they don't think about what happens when they mate.. their brains are the size of peanuts.

The other duck must have made a motion by stretching it's wing as a sign that they are ready to mate by accident, the male's brain reading that particular motion released the chemicals for arousal automatically causing the duck to do what ducks instinctively do.

they are animals, and their need to mate is purely instintual. many, MANY females in the animal kingdom don't want mate, so many male animals have to 'force' the female to mate. i dont feel this is in anyway similar to a humans rape, in which a human rapes another human becaue of the sense of control they get from it. animals don't share most of our emotions. they do share some, but not all. a mallard 'raping' another mallard is the mallard male satisfying the instinctual need. humans rape for psychological reason, not because of a 'need to reproduce.'

I don't know where feminists got the idea that people rape for different reasons than animals, (is 'rape is about power, not sex' in some sociology books or something?) they are completely stupid, it is present in every animal species.
