Oxygen. You can't "disagee" with something that is. You can disagree with a political standpoint, you can disagree with a matter of faith, but you can't disagree with the sun, the stars, or the moon. They are there, and you have to accept that. Homosexuality is a fact and impossible to "disagee" with.

Man, supposedly educated people mangle language constantly.

The correct term to use is DISAPPROVE.

Big difference, HUGE.

Peope who use "disagree" with a fact to further their point do a tremendous diservice to themselves and their point of debate. Are they too stupid to realize this or am I just being too correct when it come to use of language? Don't get me wrong, I'm not some nit picking snit, but this one thing regarding an issue I find personal really bugs me. Thank you for your thoughts.

Oh, and I promise to leave the whole "lifestyle" baloney for another day.

Right on bro, "disagreeing" with homosexuality is also like disagreeing with gravity, you can try to disagree with either but the results will always be the same:

Homosexuality is in nature, and what goes up, always comes back down

Hey aren't you "officer milkbone" from the old message boards?

Exactly. It's just a fact: some people are gay, some are bi, most are straight. How do you disagree with it? I may "disagree" with the grass being green but what's the point? It's stupid. If someone disapproves of homosexuality then simply don't engage in it. I loathe and despise when people try to shove their beliefs down other people's throats and try to tell other people how to live their lives. They need to mind their own business, live their lives the way they want and leave other people alone.

As a culture we are just like back in the days when Galileo and Christopher Columbus was around... Everybody thought the whole universe revolved the Earth and that the world was flat.

They said this because they thought "they knew EVERYTHING"

Well, Galileo proved everybody wrong, and Christopher Columbus proved that the world was not flat by NOT FALLING OFF THE EDGE....

My point being.... everybody thinks that they are right... Since the Bible said that god made Adam and Eve, then naturally people think that relationships should be between a man and a woman... since the Bible said that, then people take it as the absolute truth and there is Nothing else... including gays.

Since Galileo and Columbus proved the world wrong, hopefully the REALITY of gayness can prove the world wrong too.

It's just a lingustic thing. 'Disagree' has come into usage as 'disapprove'; the former has taken on the latter's connotations, so that you hear 'I disagree with pre-marital sex' or 'I disagree with gun control' instead of, as you so aptly pointed out, 'disapprove'.

I don't know that it's anything to get into a fuss over, because it's not really directly related to homosexuality; I'm upset at someone who expresses such an opinion, whether it's 'disagree' or 'disapprove'.

You can't stop language change- just ask the people who continuously try to educate us to stop using 'irregardless' and other such matters.

I couldn't agree with you more. There are a lot of very sad, ignorant people out there who don't understand why they feel so much hate and fear. They just know they do. And when they try to make their stupid little cases against homosexuality, they choose the wrong words, they say things that have no logic or reason, because there is none.

It's fine if people disapprove or disagree with homosexuality or whatever. They're entitled to their opinions.

What's not fine is legislating discrimination against them in the form of denying them equal rights under the law.

Churches and individuals can hold whatever views of them they want and treat them unequally if they wish, although doing so is still morally reprehensible. But the government has no business doing so.

You make an excellent point. And yes, people mangle language constantly. You might enjoy the book "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" by Lynn Truss.

Amazing how many hypocritical "Christian" homophobes came out of the woodwork for this one.

Hiding behind the words of Bronze-Age sheephearders over modern-day common sense.

Some here remind me of the Bush Administrations take on Global Warming: "We want to take a balanced approach"

IOW, they don't want to be confused with facts.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't disagree with homosexuality. I simply see it as an impurity in a human lifestyle that directly effects the moral fiber of our socialogical functionality as a species.

I agree with your criticizing people's language usage. I also would point out that the word "disservice" is spelled with two, rather than one S. Kind of makes your whole intellectual thing go downhill.
