I will be traveling from the PHL airport to City Centre. How far do you have to walk from the regional rail station (Suburban Station) to the subway station (City Hall) ? Stairs involved? Elevators available? Issue critical since I will be pulling luggage!

Hello~~

Suburban Station is underground. Yes, some stairs involved. When you get to the Regional Rail staion I think (about 95 % sure) that there are Elevators.

A word of advice....give yourself an addtional 5 or 10 minutes to walk from the Trolley (Green Line), El (blue line) or the subway (Orange line)to the regional rail station. Souldn't take that long to walk but you'll need to buy a ticket. If there is a ticket office open buy a ticket (about $5 or $6). If you don't buy the ticket at a regional rail line with an open ticket office you'll be charge $2 more to buy on the train.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip.

Suburban Station is connected to the Broad St. line (Orange) as well as the Market-Frankford line (Blue) and the trolley lines (Green) through an underground walkway. There are some steps involved if you need to get to the Broad St. line, and they can be narrow and busy depending on the time of the day you will be going through there.

When you get your ticket for the Regional Rail part of your trip, make sure you buy a transfer pass for the subways...it will save you some money and will save you the hassle of paying at the subway station for the fare.

I think you might be better making the switch at 30th St Station. It's less confusing and you can escalators at 30th Street to get from the regional rail platform to the main floor. From there, you are at street level. Exit the building at the southwest. The entry to the blue line is across the street - there's an elevator to get to the platform level.

It's more straightforward than getting out at Suburban Station and hauling luggage through the maze underground.
