these things happen. Personally I never book a package to avoid this sort of thing. The tour company acts as an agent to book things like a hotel and transport and so they will act as an agent to resolve the problem. However they can't make the hotel stay open as this is outside of their power. Maybe the tour company failed to check the details when you booked or maybe the hotel was at fault. You can't really prove it either way. You solutions are. 1. Insist that you are given a hotel booking that is as good if not better than the one you booked. They should cover the expense. It is up to them to remedy the problem as they already took your money. But if you are on holiday you don't really want to get into a fight over these things. 2. Ask for a full refund and book elsewhere. 3. Find an alternative package with the travel agent.
