my daughter has just told me that her father has touched her inappropriately. as soon as we found out, we called the police. a sheriff came by and my daughter told her about where she was being touched. although she was scared she spoke. i'm proud of her. the sheriff said that my daughter will not be made to go to her dads house (she goes every other weekend). she says that, as far as she is concerned, she is in danger when she is there. i am still in shock. i'm scared for my little girl. what happens next? from what i understand cps will get involved. is it possible that she will have to go back to her dads for the weekend visits?

Legally your daughter will not have to see her dad because of what happened. The sheriff will inform the court about it.Check with the court or sheriff office in the next day or to,to see what is happening with the case.Your daughter will not see her dad until the court feels it is safe.

What happens next, as the parent, you should take this to the court system and have supervised visits for the child with her father. Also, it depends upon what type of agreement over child custody that you and him have agreed on, it is not right for him not to be punished to the maximum of the law, but also it depends on how strong your daughter is and if she wishes to go to court, because she will be part of the case and having to testify about what happened and where it happened. Be firm but also be very supportive of your daughter and also you might want to consider having you and your daugther go to a family therapist, so that she doesn't act out in an inapproperiate behaviour.
On a personal note, this is just sad that this has happened to you and your daughter. But having been in that position and having never told anyone, your daughter is quite strong and should not be forced to visit her father if she does not want to.

She'll see her dad in monitored situations until this is resolved. Have fun in Monterey Park - it's a lousy courthouse to be in - filled with the scum of the earth child abusers. Its where all the child abuse cases in Los Angeles County are heard. Should have said, have fun in dependency court.

I am really concerned for your child. How is she feeling right now? I can only imagine this might cause some damage to her. I really hope she doesn't have to visit her Dad if he's doing that! That's so horrible. If she does, I like what the person said above me...accompany her on the visits.

You know, I pray she does not have to go back. But, I have watched judges in courts do some un-believe able things. I'm sure you have watched on the news or read in the paper, cases where some idiot judge said there's not enough proof. I have always thought, if this was me, I would figure out how to take my child and go into hiding. Please write back to yahoo and let us know how this situation is taken care of.
I pray for you and your daughter.
