I started this job 6 months ago. I like it, but it seems like everyone there are so misserable. All they do is complain about the work or the co-workers and they even make fun of people all the time. It's hard to hear this day after day. Is there a polite way to tell them to stop? You know the saying if you have nothing good to say don't say nothing at all. I know the best answer is stay away. But, that sure would make for along day, and I don't want to be known as the stuck-up one. Any ideas?

Just stay away as much as you can from the gossip. The management knows what's going on, and who the trouble makers are.

I worked at a company just like that. Gossip and more gossip. I hated it so much, that I finally didn't associate with anyone except management.

Worked for me.

Yes you must stay away from joining or making a gossip. Some
one who heard or made a gossip would has a sin in line with islamic teaching. You mus advice them do not make a gossip. But if can not stop their habit of talking gossip you do not join them or you can attract them to other fruitful discussion.
Be silent is gold and it is better than talking a gossip.Tell them that if you made a gossip you will have an overtaken sin of the man/woman who will be the object of their gossip.
