how does a realtor get paid?

im considering on going to a real estate licensing school. after i get my license, what happens? would i go work for a broker then i would have to wait to get paid until i sold my first house? how long does that usually take? i understand in real estate you get out what you put in. im just concerned about the beginning and how i would get by. on average how many house does an average realtor sell in a month?

You will work on commission and get "draws" on your pay until you close a deal. You pay the "draws" back when you close. It is a very lucrative job if you are good and the opposite if otherwise.
