you cannot believe what you read, its not all true for everyone. and sometimes women get their dates wrong, you technically could be a little further along even. for me thats about when i started to drop and i went late both times. is this your first kid? everyone is different so its hard to tell. your doctor will be able to give you a better idea when they check you next, if your dilating any or if they can feel any of the head. i wouldnt be nervous but the baby is getting ready for the big day. talk to your doctor, thats the best advice i can give to you. good luck.

A womans body is built to carry children with all the expansion in the abdomen that is done while the child is growing inside. If you have had a baby before sometimes what you are calling the "drop" becomes very evident because the muscles are already stretched and even though you have toned up those muscles they have a certain "memory" and while the baby is positioning itself for birth (traveling down the birth canal) then the stretching begins, hence-drop. But if this is your first baby, less is said about the drop, as it is about the baby lining up to pass in the canal. Of course, everyone has their own opinion about this, but the actually say a given time frame, is just not right. You must remember that this is the best time of your life. Make your own little comments and notes about the next 20 days, each day like a diary and you will know what I'm talking about. Listen less to everyone else and concentrate on you. You will be glad you did.

It is fine, it is preparing to be born. It happens usually about a month or so before the baby is born, but sometimes longer. Sometimes the baby does not even drop until labor, that is what happened with my last baby! So, it really is ok, if you are concerned ask your Dr. at your next visit. Good Luck!

It could just be the way the baby is positioned. Dropping does not necessarily mean labor soon is to follow. If you are unsure call your Dr.

the baby could just be getting lower and not totally 'dropped' for labor. Mine dropped at 35 weeks- and here i am at 40 weeks still waiting! hehe.

dragonfly, i know your anxious. the baby dropping means it is getting in position for the delivery when it does happen. i t doesnt necessarily mean your going any time soon, but you never know. just be prepared for this miraculous event. everyones body is different so just know the time will eventually comes; knowing when is a hard question to answer. Best wishes!!

It doesn't really mean that it's going to be with that time scale,
It just means baby's getting comfy
Don't worry it doesn't mean baby will be early.
Women can be in labour at 40 weeks and baby is still high up, unless you are contracting then don't panic

I have not heard of that unless the baby wants out to see his/her mommy. Our family has a lot of premature babies. They are born a few days after the sixth month begins. Let me tell you, these babies are so wonderful. When my daughter went into early labor, I told the doctors to let him out. The doctors tried for four days to keep my little one from being born. They finally let him out and he has grown to be so wonderful. All of the premature babies in my family are extremely intelligent and caring.
