What is a good job to have in college?

I will be going to Iowa University in the fall, and I was wondering what would be a good job to have in college, like one on campus, or one elsewhere, like at the mall somewhere? Or try to work at somewhere at like a bank? Thank you

I had two jobs in college (not at the same time). One was working at Target. That didn't work very well for me. It was hard to get there and they were pretty demanding of my time.

The other was an on campus customer service job (answering phones, emails, and explaining options and policies)... It worked out great for me and it really gave me a strong basis in business communication. Most on campus jobs are very flexible with your hours, pay comparably to any off campus job, and some of them can actually help you later in life.

I'd avoid working in food services though. People I know who've done that didn't really get anything out of the job.

If your parents are willing to pay for everything I would still recommend getting a job, just to allow yourself to explore what you're good at and get some experience under your belt. It never hurts to have some extra cash around too.

The easiest and best paying job to work while in college...That I have found was to be a waiter/waitress. If you have any prior experience then a bartender. You'll make good money and have fun. Ideas of places to apply are Chili's, TGIFridays, Ruby Tuesdays, Applebees, Hard Rock Cafe etc.

Good Luck and don't party too much...it is too easy to do at these restaurants.

Substitute teaching is a good job if you can handle it. The pay is ok and you work anytime you want which is great for a college student's schedule.
