Who are you?
What does this question mean to you? Do you answer with a name? Do you answer with a belief? I am Mike. I am athiest. I am a bassist, lyricist, and a thinker. I am all of these, and my personal beliefs and traits have so much more of an impact on who I am than my birth given name. Yet I answer with the name, Mike. I am Mike. Not I am Mike, the athiest bassist. I am Mike. The bassist, the athiest, the thinker, the believer, the hater, the lover, the friend. The inaudible sigh. The relief that noone hears or sees. Who are you?

Buffalo. What other animal in this world travels in herds so tightly woven, so dependant on what the buffalo in front of them do, that they will follow eachother off a cliff, effectively eradicating almost an entire herd? Humans. Humans herd together, and we follow eachother off of our own cliffs. Cliffs that we can't even see, because we're so far up the person's *** in front of us that we can't even see that we're going straight for a cliff. Metaphorically speaking, we're all headed for one cliff or another. Not very many people desire to walk off a cliff, it happens suddenly. Sometimes the person who's head is up your *** knocks you off before you get a chance to turn around and break away from the herd.

If you're lucky, you got put on the outer edges of the herd. You get to see what is happening, from a 3rd person perspective, and you decide not to follow the herd. You go off on your own, sometimes you're able to fend for yourself, sometimes you're still eaten. At least you weren't part of the herd.

The whole human race is one big herd, and there are the few of us who broke off from the herd, who see this happening and are way too weak to stop an entire stampede

I am a random cosmic accident seeking to carve out a place in our self-imposed social structure. I am a coincidence who is trying to make a meaning out of his life. I am a chance happening that is trying to make his brief flash of existence remembered. For only in these ways will I live on.

I am a mother, a wife, an artist, a farmer, a cynic, an optimist.

If you ask me "Who are you?" I will tell you that I am Theresa, but you can call me Tess.
If you ask me "What do you do?" I will tell you, I raise ducks.

Does this define me? No. But beyond that, it is not your business if you don't have the time to get to know me.

Do I believe that humans are buffalo? No. They are Sheeple. Even within the herd, they get eaten and picked off one by one. They wander blindly in one direction or another, bleating about things which don't really matter... I suppose that makes me the black sheep of the herd. So be it.

I am as the breeze, not definable, yet very comfortable to know. I am spiritual, of no ' religion ' while still respecting of all faiths and religions. I am a soul living an earthly journey in this magnificent body. . . to experience humanness. Music, passion, the ocean, people, dancing awakens me. I am of oneness with all yet very much an individual spirit. I hear what is not spoken, I see what can not be seen, I feel what can not be touched. . . I live my life . . . not have my life live me. I color outside the lines. I am a bright star. . . no more or less than any other . . . simply a beautiful soul ' awakening ' more each day . . . wondering, learning. I know Love. ~ ~ Smiles to you ~ ~

I haven't been part of the herd since....well, actually I don't think I've ever been part of the herd. And I agree, the human race is like that, I've observed it for years. They follow without particular reason and they willingly give up their free will, whether it be for God or country, maybe something else. It, for lack of better terms, sucks...but it seems inevitable, sadly.

that first paragraph was beautiful, poetic... the rest was just honest cynicism. i like the way you write. however, that is not who i am... it's funny though because even you, who poses this question, is not all too sure of the answer... it's funny yet beautiful how others can know you better than yourself... that's why love is valued so much, it is someone knowing you when you didn't(because you really couldn't) explain who you are... we both know that the answer to this question cannot be formed into something as meaningless as words, you stated that yourself, so why ask such a heartbreakingly futile question... ?

i hope not to be one of the heard, but the crazy don't know they're crazy... do they?

A dreamer that believes there is still true love out there that will last to my last sunset. A person who wants to fly, a tiger waiting to unleash and show how beautiful life can be with the one you love. Just a guy waiting to fit in with a woman who will open my eyes. just me.

who am i? im still searching. at 21 im far to young to know that answer but i do know that im on my way to finding the solution to this little enigma of "me." i believe this question can mean many things. it can point to an interpretation Descartes' "i think therefore i am" theory. it can outline personality traits; likes/dislikes; tendancies; mannerisms; etc. Existence, or, "am" is a mysterious concept, but i think that's what keeps us going, and thus is the root of our being--whatever that means . . . to you
