It isn't out of the question, but a lot of things do have to be a fairly close match:

--The alien's home planet should likely have atmospheric pressure close to that of ours, and the air itself should likely be mainly a nitrogen/oxygen mix like ours is so that the fellow can breathe without needing a spacesuit.

--The alien's home world would also need to have gravity somewhat close to ours....enough so that he or she could move about freely, and not be crushed in our gravity well.

--The alien him/herself should likely be water-based life as that would dictate the temperature ranges he/she could survive in.

--And finally, the DNA structure needs to be a close enough match that an alien could *eat the food* without poisoning him/herself. Some protiens and amino acids in particular end up being toxic if the molecules form the wrong way (right handed or D-shape versus left handed or L-shape).

But yeah, it isn't out of the question....provided the life in question is at least *slightly* like us. :)

Hope this helps. :) Have a good one.

If an alien came from a planet that was similar to the earth, yes, it can survive on earth. Water and oxygen are two key elements for life on earth.

Man is alien to the Moon yet he survived there.

I would think any species sufficiently advanced to reach Earth would have some means of surviving when they got here.

As for surviving without any modification to the environment (space suits), that would depend on what sort of an environment they evolved in.

It depends on the inner workings of the alien. His home world would have to be nearly identical to ours -- atmospheric pressure, oxygen content, water vapor, etc. If this alien lived on a frozen planet with liquid methane flowing around like water (as is the case on some moons out there), he definately could not survive on Earth.

If you believe in evolution, then Alien won't survive on earth. If the environment is fine for the Alien to survive, they will have already "born" here and won't be called as Alien.

We don't know. Because even human can not survive at every corner of the world. Say a person who lives in the equator most of his live, and now he has to live up in the north poles or up in summit of snowy mountains. They normal body function can not get use ti it. They can be sick to die as a results.

The bottom line is how different is the environment the Alien's world from Earth.

An "alien's" surivial on earth is based upon the elements in which they depend on for life. For example humans depend on oxygen. However, an alien so advanced to travel to earth would probably know that and therefore be prepared.
