If it won't let you update at all, you'll probably need to completely reset the iPod (there should be an option on the main screen when you connect your iPod). Then, to reload everything, you'll need to rebuild your original playlist. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that you'll be able to recover your original playlist, which would fix this problem right away, because even though you might be able to recover the playlist as a deleted file, the database that iTunes uses to keep track of everything will have just been edited, not deleted, and you can't recover data that you overwrote.

download this free program called IDUMP. then open the program, and then connect the ipod that has the music that you want to share, then click all of the songs, and click "start copy" and that will make folders for each album you have in your music section of your laptop or computer, then, open up itunes, then go to file then select "add folder to library " then click the music section on your computer and click ok. it will now put all the songs you selected on the idump program onto your itunes, without deleting the songs off your ipod! then just connect your sisters ipod to the computer, click on her ipod picture when it appears on itunes and scroll down and click "manually manage music" then click apply. now, just drag all the songs onto her ipod! hope this helps! -Matt
