I am a vegetarian and have been experiencing some recent headaches. I am not sure if this is a symptom of something missing from my food or maybe just like stress or something. I eat plenty of fruit, vegs, breads, nuts, grains, etc, but wonder if I am missing something to give me that extra boost (and cut out these headaches). Any ideas or vitamins that are essential to a healthy veg life?

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Hi Ryan,

I am vegeterian as well.

Sometimes, headaches tat you are suffering may be due to other reasons like:
- lack of sleep
- a congested and unhealthy colon
- too much salt, oil and preservatives in your diet.

I would suggest that you take this vitamin that I take called VPlus.

Not only is VPlus rich in Vitamin B12 (which is very lacking in a vegeterian diet), it also helps to detox our body (including our colon) and helps our body get rid of unwanted toxins.

My godma had very bad headaches as well and got rid of them after consuming VPLus.

A lack of magnesium sometimes causes headaches.

Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil causes damage and overheating.

If you take a swig of molasses and it lightens us it could be only the magnesium.

But if the muscles; on your back beside your spine, or in your shoulders, or neck are tight they may be the real cause. For more on muscles, pain and reffered pain read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches you how to help yourself.

Ryan
I have terrible headaches if I don't consume at least 4 ounce of caffeine each day. No joke.
I use peppermint and chamomile tea to help me.
I use valerian root (liquid) under my tongue to help with pain.
I use cold packs on my head and heat at the base of my neck to encourage blood flow.

Good luck hope you feel better soon.

Yes there is a way to cut off those headaches but it will not matter if I tell you as you may not take me seriously anyway so good luck.

The headaches could be a variety of things. Maybe you should consult a Nutritionist to go over your food intakes, to make sure nothing is missing from your diet.

do you get enough sleep? my grandmother swears by this. i get migraines if i don't get enough sleep .

also, if you drank alot of soda one day and none the next, your body could have a caffeine withdrawal, which could give you a killer headache.

do you take a multivitamin? if its not against anything, i would recommend taking one of those a day, just to make sure you are getting some of everything. just my opinion

Get your blood pressure checked. Even though you're a vegetarian & eat healthy doesn't mean you can't have high blood pressure. Just go to a local pharmacy, some have those blood pressure machienes. Check it out. Good Luck!
