Line dried clothes. My childhood started out very happy, parents together, a simple life. Mom stayed home and the clothes were washed in a wringer washer and hung out to dry. We moved to a city when I was about 5 and everything went to hell. Dad drank and left, mom had to find work to support the 6 of us and I always wonder what would have been if my clothes were hang dried a few years longer. But I still love that smell and it makes me think of happy moms and dads and laughing children running around barefoot.
