My daughter is 6 weeks old and i am breastfeeding her. Im just wondering how many times a day should she be eating. She only wants to eat every 3-4 hours during the day and she goes about 8 hours without eating at night. When she was born she weighed 7lb 8 oz. and she is now 10 lb 4 oz so she is gaining weight fine but im still worried she is not eating often enough. Is 5-6 times a day ok???

6 weeks isn't to youthful for cereal. The docs will recommend it for little ones with reflux so if it may damage them they does no longer provide it to them that youthful. My son is 6 wks he develop into 8 kilos 2 oz. at start he now weighs 14 kilos and is 26 inches lengthy and is skinny as a rail only very sturdy and he's consistently hungry. I provide him a million tablespoon of oatmeal cereal in a 4 ounce bottle at bedtime and it makes a large enormous difference. i found that feeding him extra typically than each and every 3 hours extremely will improve his gas and fussiness yet he received't take a passy so i have discovered that unique him consistently is a distraction from eating. he's already rolling from abdomen to lower back and holds his personal head and he's totally healthy. The cereal may be the answer for you.

When my daughter was younger, i bottle fed and they told me 2 -3 oz. every 3 -4 hours. She used to scream her head off at night and she wouldn't sleep. So finally I just started feeding her when she cried, especially after they kept telling me how often to feed her and then sticking her in the hospital because she wasn't gaining any weight. When your baby is hungry she will let you know.

My son is 5 months old...at that age, he ate every 2 hours (sometimes went 3-4 hours, but was pretty regular about 2 hours). He slept all night and didn't eat for 8 hours...He's growing fine...If your daughter is growing fine, she should be ok...ask the doctor to be sure, though.

That sounds about right they do say to feed your baby every 2-3 hours and if she sleeps through the night and still eats good during the day I wouldn't worry about it that much.

If it dose worry you though I would talk to her doctor about it because if she's not over weight or under weight I wouldn't stress about it to much.

Your baby's doing quite well. My wife feeds ours every 3 hours or so and he's only gained about a pound since birth. Sounds like you're on the right track! BTW, what day was yours born? 12/21?

As long as she is gaining weight she is fine. Babies usually gain between 1/2 lb and 2 lbs a month. Sounds like she is progressing fine.

I breastfed too and that was about how often my daughter was eating too. Even overnight it was anywhere from 6-8 hours. Be prepared for the first growth spurt though because the feeding will become more frequent.

Every 3 to 4 hours.
Don't worry she's gaining weight and (from 7.8 to 10.4 is good).
Your baby has a built in clock and she will wake when she's hungry.
Count yourself lucky that she goes through the nite.
With breast feeding it's hard to tell unless you pump it into a bottle but her weight gain is more than adequate..

I went through this same thing with my 4 children. Let the baby eat when she's ready. She will let you know when she's full and hungry. You are worried about nothing, which is totally excusable because you are a mother. As long as she stays healthy you'll be fine.

She is growing very well, so whatever she is eating is just fine. It is wonderful that she is going 8 hours at night without a feeding. Don't worry, just enjoy your precious little gift from God.
