i have a 98 chevy malibu and their is a litlle noise in the engine when i push the gas?

it sounds like a lose pice of metal

Sounds like cheap gas or maybe a piston knock. Does it do it every time you accelerate or just when you take off.

It sounds like your getting a little preignition from carbon buildup inside the cylinders. You may try using slightly better gas (mid-grade) and if this stops that noise, the car will run better and get slightly better mileage. If running mid grade gas doesn't stop the noise then I am wrong, it is something else. Possibly could be in need of a tuneup.
