I assume you mean, they tell you to grow up. Well if both phrases are coming from the same person then they are hypocrites or mixed up emotionally. If it's two different people then the person who tells you to stay a child is young at heart and the person who tells you to grow up forgot their childhood as they matured.

Its a saying to make most out of your life. We notice childrens dont hold grudges even they did something wrong to them. They contend on what they have. They appreciate everything good. What they mean is this, you should take the goodness of the child & apply it to your life not literally the behavior of a child.

Adults should be "child-like" sometimes! Why always be "so serious and boring"? Life is way too short to even care what anyone thinks about you. As a child it is so difficult to please parents, that have forgotten that. so it is confusing, I know. When it comes to serious responsibilities, like school or work, "be MATURE". When it comes to being "a kid" , just have fun! Good luck!
