yeah, ive seen them do that before they die... they cant stay down in the water, so they swim in spirals... if he cant manage to stay under water and keeps floating to the top, he doesnt have much time left.

This is tough.. there are lots of diseases that can be presented in this way. Check out the url to see all the things that you may be able to do.. In the end, you will probably have to go to the vet.. if you have more than one fish.. you may want to separate it from the others.

Sorry to tell you but your fish might have Swim Bladder Disease. This is fatal, and is when the swim bladder (the big silver part of a fish) is essentially breaking.

This doesn't sound good. Swimming erratically is usually a symptom of something serious. You'll know in the next 24 hours, I suspect.

Yeah, it sounds like a fin problem. Maybe you could contact a local specialty pet shop that specializes in fish,,, they might have some helpful suggestions.

is it having a hard time leveling itself? that could be swim bladder problems.

it could also be ammonia/nitrite/nitrate poisoning. you might want to try a water change of about 1/3 of the water and see if that helps.

i had a fish and it lived for about 10 years, yea long time

ok well is it going in full circles around the bowl? or is it spinning in one place?

i would just take it to the vet if the fish means alot to you since vet cost are expensive.

How big is it's bowl, perhaps it needs a bigger bowl. Dogs in cages get crazy and spin in circles, maybe your fish is doing the same. Not sure though, just a thought.
