Should couples have a lot in common, or do you believe the "opposites attract"?

I think that it doesn't matter...If you love someone, then just love them....

The bottom line is that no two people have A LOT in common...what we have to remember is that no matter how similar we seem, there are always a lot of variants...

I mean, that you are pulling two totally different people together...raised in two totally different families...even when there are common things...there are a lot of differences...

So, I don't know if we just make excuses to love someone...or be attracted to someone...we like what we like...and don't like what we don't like....

I guess we just need to be more honest with ourselves about what we like...because we are willing to fight for what or whom we love....

(In a positive way)!

Its all based on opinion. My girlfriend and I have a lot in common, its not even funny. While the girlfriends I've had before it was more of the opposite attract thing, and to be honest it didn't work out for me that great. But everybody is different. Just find somebody who you think might have a little in common and go from there. If they aren't the one you want, then go onto the next one. There is always another person.

Yes, you should have some things in common but do not depair because part of being in a healthy and happy relationship is to cultivate common interests.
After the passion (opposites attract aspect of falling in love) settles down, it's common to realize that you have few interests in common. But don't minimize the importance of activities you can do together that you both enjoy. If
common interests are not present, happy couples develop them. At the same time, be sure to cultivate interests of your own; this will make you more interesting to your mate and prevent you from appearing too dependent.

In my opinion, a relationship where you have more in common will last longer than one that is an opposite, but a relationship with an opposite is usually more exciting in some ways, because there seems to be more conflict and good make up sex afterwords. ;o)

Well you can't have everything in common, you might as well date yourself. I do believe opposites attract to a certain degree on the same note you must be equally yoked in order for a relationship to thrive.

It is good to have differences as they expand each other's horizons.
Having the core values in common is critical and the more you have in common on things that are important to you the happier you will be.

You both need to have a lot in common, because personalities do clash.
