I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on something that has driven me so close to insanity for so long, I just dont know what to do anymore. The thing is Im ALWAYS switching interests constantly. Some days I am focused as hell on one thing but then about a month later, my mind switches and I focus on Christianity for example. Then I focus on a big argument in Christianity like is baptism essential for salvation? So I focus all my energy on one side of the topic then I come across one website that makes an interesting point and I make a complete 180 and focus on that side of the argument. Then sometimes I switch interests to a different religion like Asatru and after a while I get tired of that and usually without making any conscious effort. Just something in my mind says enough of this and I would LOVE to be able to just stay focused on one thing but it never works out! Any idea on what could be wrong with me?

It's ADD with a little scoop of OCD.

If you are productive, happy, and experiencing good relationships with others in your life...then, don't worry about it. Use that hyperfocus & channel it toward positive goals.

If you are not productive, happy, and/or experienceing good relationships with others, then a physician can discuss this with you. There are simple, effective treatments for this disorder.
Then, too, you can learn to channel your hyperfocus toward positive goals.

The grass is always greener on the other side.
You might think it is easier, but it isn't.
They wish they could be like you.

I compare the same thing to work.
Some people can really focus on one particular thing, where I float around.
There are the good and bad in both situations.
One the one hand, the people that devote themselves to one thing are less likely to find other lines of work.
On the other hand, you can't focus on one thing, so you don't excel in any specific field of study.

I am good at eveything, but not great at anything.

I have pondered all those points before. It all makes too much sense. Religion seems to do that.
The following has become my favorite quote:
"If you take cranberries and stew them like apple sauce, they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does" -Groucho Marx

Look up to your history when you were a child. check out for the things you used to enjoy that was making your life fantastic, and from there on, get on to some thing simple and get started.
