red is very symbolic. color of passion color of love. red is one of the slowest waves of light that the eye picks up. it is the color of fire its the clolor of blood. Red is a color that will stand out in a room more then any other color because of this & its shade is normaly constant.

Red stands out. So if everyone was in panic in an emergancy and didn't know what button to push, genrally they would push the red one 1st

Because...they just are..think about it...If you're in some sci-fi movie and the main character tells you, "Don't push the 'blue' button"...it totally ruins the movie! It's supposed to be red...red is the only color that works...

Red signifies a warning or DANGER. You know to STOP before pressing it unless it is an emergency situation.

The colour is universally associated with the above.
Plus it stands out most.
