freshman in hs or college?
in 7th grade i ran a 5.6, and i'm an o-lineman.
5.4 is pretty bad for a receiver, are you sure you aren't confusing it with a 4.5?
5.0 isn't great either. hs senior d-linemen run about 5.2, so unless you're huge you're probably mistaken. try it again and have someone time you rather than timing yourself. make sure you sprint all the way through, because you can lose a lot of time on the last 5-10 yards just because you're tired.
if you get the same result, consider moving to tight end. if you can block well and have good hands you'll likely have yourself a spot on varsity by your junior year. it helps if you work on your footwork too by jumping rope.
you can get faster by running a lot, or doing certain work outs. if your school has a stregnth and conditioning coach, ask him to work with you. you'll see improvements before next season.

Sorry its really not that great. But you can work on it. And depending on your size you could be a good Fb, DE or Linebacker. And there is always offensive or Defensive lineman. Really bad for a WR. Unless you get alot faster and have amazing hands and size. You will not be WR for long.

5.4? Good if you are 350 pounds and 6' 7". Horrible if you are a WR, freshman or not.
