Yes. They climb trees, houses, and anything else that might lead to food. They also enter our garage through the cat door and raid the squirrel feeders

Having had a raccoon as a pet I can tell you that they will climb ANYTHING - curtains, furniture, walls, pipes, ladders (oh yes, if they're made of wood) cars, and most certainly trees.
In an emergency, with sufficient provocation, they will even climb a human being. And with their sharp claws, that is a right painful experience.

Yep! I saw some do that just a couple of week ago. We went for a lighthouse tour at our park, and when we walked back to the car there were Raccoons in the trees along the parking lot!

Yes they do. I see them do it all the time. I live in the country and we always have raccoons hanging around our bird feeder. When we open the door up to go outside they go running up the trees and just sit there and watch for us to go back in the house.

Try placing a piece of PVC pipe around the tree. I use PVC pipe on a fence to keep my cats from climbing out.

Absolutely. That's how coon hunters get them. They send their dogs out to tree them.
