Yes, it's fair. McCarthy hunted down people and persecuted people for what he thought they believed. The Dixie Chicks expressed what they believed and people exercised their rights to listen to their music or not to listen to their music. They can say whatever they want, if people react negatively to it and it effects their sales then unfortunately they can only blame themselves. I don't think they are being wrongly persecuted, their fanbase just doesn't agree with their politics, that's all.

i don't think enough happened. they need to be hanged.
of course that's a little far...in truth, Freedom of speech is a great thing. They exercised it. Of course, as the other person said, that right doesn't assure that there isn't a price to pay for what you say. Just as they have a right to say what they did, the people have a right to disagree with them, and thus never buy their cd's again.

I think that their career took off after they talked trash on the President, etc. I think that is unfair, I hope they never sell another album.........

Free Speech doesn't insure that there isn't a price for what you say. They have every right to say what they want....We have every right to disagree, and every right to keep our money and not buy their product.
