Today my gyno. diagnosed me with ovarian cysts and said she could put me on birth control so they wont reappear, but I don't want to go on birth control (for personal reasons), and she said they (cysts) will just bust inside of me and I will feel pain but then be fine afterwards. Anyone have any experience with ovarian cysts? and can you get pregnant with constant cysts?

I was diagnosed with a huge ovarian cyst while on birth control. Being on the pill did not make me not get cysts. i was going to have my cyst removed because it was so large but when they went in to remove it it had burst on its own. U might feel some pressure or alittle pain but i didnt feel anything when mine burst. most Ovarian cysts do not affect getting pregnant. My mother has had cyst her whole life and she had no problem getting pregnant. no worries!

I would suggest taking the birth control pills. They can help regulate your hormone levels, which can get all messed up due to the cysts on your ovaries. It can be harder to conceive with ovarian cysts, depending on ow bad they are.

If the ovarian cysts are functional they will go by themselves even if you donot do anything. Whenever a woman have menstrual cycle, many follicles grow and only one of the follicle rupture and release the ovum. The other follicles will die soon. You can get pregnant with ovarian cysts if you have remaining functional follicles.

I am having surgery Friday for 3 cysts and possible endometriosis. I don't know how long I've had them because I went for over 2 years before I had an exam. They are going to look and see to what degree they are and may have to remove them. You should have them removed because they can cause severe pain if they burst.

My experience was they bust and I was in soooo much pain and I blacked out and thought I was dying ... It was hard to decribe it but I had doubled over and got on my hands and knees and all I could see was black and white specs floating and I got really dizzy and I could barley speak to get help so I laid on the bathroom floor for hours until finally it went away and everything was fine after that. I would have much rather had the surgery then go through that again. You should go get a pap test done.

I, too, suggest you take the pills. I have poly-cystic ovaries and that's what they reccomended for me. I also read up on the symptoms you get if you don't take the pills to regulate them and they cause increased appetite (which leads to weight gain), acne, facial hair growth, thining hair, and lack of a sex drive. After I went on birth control, my face cleared up and the one small area i had facial hair stopped growing. I also have been able to mantain my weight easier. I suggest you give the pill a second look.
