Well..depending on what type of shoe it is (material), you can throw it into your clothes washer, and later the dryers. Best to put it in with some clothes, so the soap doesn't only become concentrated just on the shoes. Also most shoe stores (e.g. Champs, Athlete's Worls etc.) have shoe cleaning solutions you can buy for different kinds of shoes for about $6-12. Either one of those methods should clean 'em right up.

Get all the mud off of them and then use windex and a toothbrush. Stay away from formula 409 if they are dyed leather shoes the dye may run or get faded. If they are rubber, 409, or bleach would work well.

Usually shoe stores sell shoe cleaners.I suggest you use one of those.
Or you can take soapy warm water on a rag and wipe the shoe being careful not to get the inside wet!

I use the shoe store clearer stuff they sell, but after I do so I then use the protective stuff they have since not only do I find that helps the shoe be water resistant but it also makes it bit more resistant to getting dirty, but once it does get dirty I find that it is not as hard to get off as it was without using that stuff.

first, you want to get a brush or if you dont have one use tooth brush. wet the brush and scrap off the mud. if its white leather shoe like AF1's, rub gently. Or you can get shoe whitener from walgreens or safeway.

depends what type of shoe it is. if they're tennis shoes use soft scrup, it will make them whiter and get them the cleanest. If its more of a sandal just use regular soap and water
