I have this sheer, kinda material dress and I need to use it by tomorrow. I just realized it has a lot of wrinkles, and I don't have time nor money to bring it to the dry cleaners. I can't iron it. Any ideas?

Hang it (on the hanger) in the bathroom while you take a shower...it will steam out the wrinkles. (close the bathroom door to keep the steam in the room for maximum moisture...)

Also, a "wrinkle releaser" product (like Downy wrinkle releaser) will take out a lot of the heavier wrinkles, and dries pretty quickly. Water in a spray bottle will do about the same thing--spray it on, smooth out the wrinkles w/your hands, and let dry.

Or try the coolest/air setting on your dryer & toss it in for a couple minutes--pull it out & hang it up right away. This sort of fabric usually can't take much heat, so you are right about the "no ironing."

A cool (ie warm) iron and put a tea towel over the dress

Not knowing the material, I'd say be careful - but steam might work. Hang it in the bathroom when you take a shower.

There is a spray for very sheer material - won't help for tomorrow, but you might buy some and keep it on hand, takes wrinkles out of fine fabric without ironing.

I would either...

1. Hang it in the bathroom while running a hot shower (the steam will help some of the wrinkles come out)

or

2. Roll it in the dryer for a little bit with a damp towel (depends on the material)...the heat from the dryer and the moisture from the towel will help some of the wrinkles.

or a combo of both..

Good Luck

No, don't iron it. Hang it on a plastic hanger (plastic coated is fine) and put it in the bath room as close to the shower head as possible without it getting wet. Turn the hot water on, don't turn any fans on and close the door. Leave it for about 30 minutes. I have done this so many times, it works perfectly. Just remember not to get it wet.

If you water runs out, turn it off but leave it there and close the door, the dampness in the air will finish it off.

Depending upon the fabric, you can mist it lightly, with a very fine mist from a water bottle on spray setting. Hang it up and shake it frequently.

For sturdy fabrics, like jeans & T-shirts, I spray them quite a bit and throw them into the dryer with one or two other similar items and tumble them on a setting safe for that fabric, and a softener sheet.
