How would the word LUCE be used as the creator of life?

I did a crossword puzzle today online and the answer to one of the lines was luce as the creator of life. The computer solved this answer for me.

LUCE, Henry Robinson 1898–1967 was the American editor and publisher who cofounded the magazines:Time (1923) and founded Fortune (1930), LIFE (1936), and Sports.

Hence, LUCE is the creator of LIFE.
