I just bought a modular home and the electic company turned on the electric today but when I got to the house the electric wasnt working , I flipped every breaker I could find and even had a neighbor come over and try but I got NOTHING . When I called the electric company back they told me it wasnt thier problem and to call a electrician but I dont have the money . Any ideas on how I could fix this or what the problem could be , we are not getting a reading on the meter but I figured its because its not getting power . I doubt it is an electrical problem because the house is only 4 years old and the last owner didnt have any problems ...........

Get a Flathead Screwdriver And Open The Breaker Box And Test Voltage On The Two Largest Black Wires It Will Give You A Reading Of 240 Volts AC If It Doesn't Then The Problem Is Definitly The Meter Base. If It Does Read 240 Volts Then It Will Definitly Be The Main Breaker (Main Breakers Are At Lowe's Or Home Depot. I'm A Licensed Electrician

If there's no power to the meter, my guess is one of two things;

__The power is not reaching the house, so the issue may be with the connection at the pole, or between the pole and the structure. ( The power company would have to look at it.)

___ When the power company turned on your power, the surge caused your main breaker to flip. In addition to the small breakers, there should be a box inside or outside the house with a larger breaker switch that controls the entire structure.

Be sure that hasn't "flipped". If it's not in the full ON position, flip it fully to OFF and then back to ON.

Good luck.

Does your meter have a digital readout or is it the old dial type. If digital it will be easy to see if power is at the meter, blinks flashes etc. If it does nothing then it is the power co's problem.

from experience power company's will pull the meter and put plastic insulators on to the meter plugs and then put it back on. by looking at it from the outside you cant tell. if you check the incoming supply and there is no voltage, the power company employee left the insulators on the meter.
