Talk to your DR, he or she will probably recommend a stool softener such as Kolace, or some vegetable based laxative. Your DR might also alter your Pre Natal pill to something with a little less iron. Good luck it's almost over.

I am 29 weeks pregnant and have been having this problem for more than a month now. What is helping me is drinking water, eating lots of fiber, yogurt, milk, prunes, mangoes, granola. But this week I started taking Colace (my Ob/Gyn recommended it) and so far, after like 5 hours I was able to go to the bathroom, with less pain. Be careful and try different things until your constipation gets better because it can cause hemorroids and those can be painful. Good luck and congratulations in your baby!

My doctor told me to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, as well as drink a lot of water. I started eating a banana or an apple with my breakfast, salad for lunch, and with dinner I usually eat some kind of vegetables, while snacking on fruit throughout the day. This helped me a lot. I always ate like this, but for about a week or so I wasn't eating right and I could really feel the difference. Try the fruit and veggies for a couple of days. If it doesn't work, make an appointment with your doctor.

Good luck!

Prune juice!! Start out with about 3 to 4 ounces before bed. If you don't go by the next morning, try 6 to 8 ounces during a time when you know you won't be heading out anytime soon. If 8 ounces doesn't do it to you and you've been constipated for 3 days or more... call your OB.

But I used prune juice and it worked everytime!

Congratulations on making it to 36 weeks without this happening earlier. I am 37 weeks and have had it from the beginning. Prunes should do the trick - just eat a few and you will be fine.

I am not a big fan but they really do keep you regular.

good luck

My doctor suggested mixing a spoon of dark Caro syrup in warm milk or siting in a hot tub. Towards the end I started putting Fiber Sure in my drinks. See your doctor because if you get to constipated you might end up with a hemorroid.

When I was pregnant, my nutritonist recommened fibersure or benefiber mixed into a little cup of applesauce for that. I can still remember that. Increase your intake of whole grains and make sure you are drinking enough water (often the culprit in pregnant women). Wish you luck...glad mines over.... my youngest is turning one tomorrow. Good luck!

Raisins, craisins, and other dried fruits can be very helpful. So can prune juice, but I would recommend having the dried fruits over the juice...

You're almost there! Good luck!

See a doctor. Don't take any medications without talking to a doctor first; it's possible that something you take could affect the fetus.
