My daughter won't go to sleep unless she has a bottle in her mouth. I know that this isn't good for her but I don't know how to break her off it. She won't take a pacifier and she won't take just a bottle of water. Any tips or advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

By the way she is 5 months old no teeth yet.

I don't really think there is much you can do at that age.She isn't old enough to understand why it isn't good to sleep with a bottle. She only looks at it as your being mean to her.She is still young and if you take the bottle away as soon as she falls asleep she should be fine as far as her teeth goes.If it were me I would wait till she was about a year old and try then.

I say either:

1) let her have the bottle until shes a bit older... say 9 months to a year.

OR

2) Talk to your pediatrician about giving her warm water in her bottle. She won't like it, but thats how I weaned my kids off the bottle and onto the cup. But check with your doctor first.

she is still very young my daughter is 2 and still has a bottle at bedtI'me although im weaning her off it she never had a dummy so I didn't mind her having a bottle in the evening. As long as your baby is happy there is no right time to take the bottle off her, its up to you and your daughter when you feel is the right time will be the right time.

she's only 5 months old, you should let her have a bottle for a while longer, at least 12 months old. Babies use bottles and binkys as a comfort, you don't want to take those away too soon she might feel insecure. plus babies get hungry through the night so you want her to be comfortable.

Well try when she takes her naps to get it away before she falls a sleep. You will prob have a few hard nights with her taking it out of the bed with her, but she will get used to it consistency is the key routine all depends how bad you want it done.

well your going to have a very hard week ahead of you...but it's the only way to break her of it.

just stop giving it to her, and don't allow her to have it even when she fusses.
have patients, and maybe some ear plugs. j/k

i used to just rock my daughter, kicking, screaming the whole nine yards. i just hung on to her and let her fuss it out while i rocked her.

eventually she stopped. and went to sleep without anything at all.

only offer her water from that bottle, and she will get fed up and throw it away, it will take a few nights for ner to get used to this change but she will when it doesn't change because she wants it to

That is totally normal...it is her sucking reflex....you could try giving her a bottle with water in it to nurse on...or try a paci.....

But, she is still small...and she will probably wean herself from it soon...
