Yes, I do. Sometimes I can even remember what street I was driving down 20 years ago when I first heard the song.
I always listen to the music and sing along.

Absolutely. Some songs give you that vague feeling of being back in the day, and others can be really powerful and related to a specific memory. If it's one that's from a bad time, I try and think about what I learned from going through it, so I don't feel compelled to avoid the song altogether. And yes, I generally really listen to the music... if it's good, of course. I try and tune out the rubbish they play at work.

Yes. In fact, to remember a specific event or time, I will get the music I'm into at that time as a way of cataloging my life. So in high school it would be the Cranberries, now it is Blue October. I listen to the words.

I sometimes relate the music with a certain period of time, since I would keep listening to those songs in that time. And when I listen to music I really do listen, most of the time.

Some of the songs, I listen to the words, thinking I remember them, and find that the song had a different meaning than I remember.
I do think back to people, places and events during the time the song was popular.

Yeah, sometimes. It really depends on the song more than anything.
I remember one, in particular, being a really bittersweet memory because it had to do with my entire group of friends (there were about 12 of us, 6 guys, 6 girls, that were ALWAYS together in our college days) growing up and moving on.
I don't remember what the name of the song was called, but it was one by The Smashing Pumpkins. Whenever I hear it to this day, it makes me wanna cry, 'cause there's only about 3 or 4 of us left who actually keep in contact with each other. :(

Yes, of course. Some songs bring me back to the old time. while others remind me of a particular person in my life. I actually turn the volume up and try to listen to every single words and notes in those songs. I think I get an emotional boost out of that.

Some music does, and it reminds me of people, events, and periods in my life. For example Eric Clapton's "You look wonderful tonight" reminds me of my brother's wedding. Mmm, I do listen to the music, but I also use it as a background while I drive, cook or study.

Yes it's unavoidable to not relate a certain song to a specific time in your life. Songs that relate to a happy time, I really listen to, songs that make me remember an unhappy time, I usually change the radio station. No one needs to be reminded of unhappy times. Some songs do not remind me of unhappy times but I won't listen to them, because the person they relate to has passed on and it makes me unhappy to hear them .
