Since your homepage is pointing to http://protectionwarning.com/ , this means your PC is infected with a trojan called Zlob Trojan. Of course it is important to get rid of protectionwarning.com, but it is just as important to also remove the Zlob Trojan that implanted it there. In my experience, a program called SpyNoMore is your best bet in removing the Zlob trojan. By removing this trojan, you will also get rid of protectionwarning.com. Another symptom of Zlob Trojan is that it generates fake warning messages like:

System Alert
Critical System Error
System Performance monitor warning
Security Alert: NetWorm-i.Virus@fp
W32.Myzor.FK@yf

Well, it definitely sounds like your computer has been infected with a browser hijacker. There are several free tools to use to remove it. Since you have already used Norton and Ad Aware, try Spybot Search & Destroy. Spybot handles browser hijackers better than the other 2. If you are using Windows XP SP2, you can also use Microsoft's Windows Defender. Both of these programs can be found on: http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/

If these 2 programs fail to resolve the problem, you might have to spend money and buy SpySweeper or Spyware Doctor.
Free antispyware programs are decent but they are not on par with the commercial antispyware programs. Both SpySweeper and Spyware Doctor can remove infections which all of the free programs can not.

On the above website, you can try using AVG antispyware before resorting to buy an antispyware program.

(1) Get you self a good antivirus or a free one .
(2) If you have not already scanned your comp with spybot do that now .
(3a) Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .
(3b) Install a good firewall

If the above steps do not remove the hijack then you would need to
(4) Download hijackthis
(5) Post the hijackthis log on the hijackthis forum for the hijackthis experts to take a look
6) Install and use firefox while browsing
