I would go with a good deep mahogany leather. If you plan on showing I would go with a burgundy, navy, or hunter for the saddle pad and your attire. I haven't owned a flex tree saddle, but I've heard mixed revues. I guess you'd just have to try it out.

Flex trees sound like a great idea but sometimes can be a bad choice. In actuality ANY saddle can be a bad choice. Seeing as your horse still has some growing to do, no matter what saddle you get it's body will still change. Even if you get it custom made you run the risk of getting a warped or broken tree! Super scary to think about, wether your saddle is worth $500 or $5000 things arnt always how they look. With a flex tree they are usually made of a lighter material like fiberglass, which can be damaged while being made or shipped! The best saddle for being sturdy is a raw hide wooden tree, but they can be very costly and heavy. Also they can get warped in the production stages and even in shipping etc. Saddles fit is a huge issue of a health horse especially if they are being ridden! I am a certified Equine Therapist, and a good 75% of behavorial, structural, and internal issues i am called out to look at are related to saddle fit. I would suggest maybe looking into a saddle made by Bob Marshall, Its actually a TREE LESS saddle and only has the pomel and cantle and the rest is leather. My friend has a cool purple suade seat for her bob marshall and matches her palamino beautifully!! I hope I didnt discourage you!! It is great to hear someone being genuinly concerned for their horses well being and has some education regarding saddles, its not a one size fits all thing! You are on the right track!! And I have seen people spend a fortune on saddles and get the aweful end of the stick. Atleast with the tree less saddle there is not alot of room for bridging, which is gaping spots leaving pressure points, because it is so closely fitted. I wolud also ask if them if a tree less saddle is ok to be made to fit a 2 year old. They would definatly help you out more. Also I dont think they are to cheap but hey its for your horses comfort too right? I hope this helps you out!! Keep me posted! Also as far as color goes I like the light tan aswell!!! With a little silver acents!! Thats hot. Purple, Teal, Hunter green, all complament a palamino so nicely. Good luck hun!

Congratulations on the new horse! He's gorgeous. I have a palimino mare that I use medium oil tack on with purple saddle pads, although you probably don't want purple for your gelding. I would suggest a rich colour, something that will make his golden tones come out, like a nice dark blue or even a nice shade of green. Try to avoid pastel colours as they make paliminos seem a little bland.
I have a flex tree saddle that I use on young horses. I would suggest them as long as you have very good balance. They tend to slip a little easier than regular saddles and if you are not a balanced rider you will really throw your horse off, especially a young one who's still trying to find his balance without a rider, let alone with one.
Hope this helps!! Good luck and Happy Trails!

First I have to say your horse is gorgeous! I love Palomino's! Go to www.hobbyhorse.com, they are a show clothing site and there is a section to show what colors work best on the color horse your pick. You can do browns/off-whites, jewel tones. Palomino's are the neutrals of the horse world for color selection. I would also go with a medium oil color in tack.
I have no experience with flex-tree. Horsecity.com has some very knowledgeable saddle people, you can go there and ask.
Good luck with your boy, he sure is a looker.

RE:
horse tack color.....western flex trees?
I would like to know what color western tack and accesories would look the best on my new horse. I put a link to his photos below. I really like the light oil tack, but I already have a medium/chestnut colored bridle. Which color would look best on my horse? What about for saddle pads...etc? Also,...

Hes a beautiful boy- congrats. I like light oil tack too, although palominos can really pull off any color tack. I like my Flex tree saddles, I have about 10 of them because I have so many horses. They are also pretty comfortable. When we go to show our horses, our palominos usually have black accessories to go with their tack. Black seems to make a palomino that is golden pop and standout. It doesn't take over your horses look and you notice the horse before you notice the tack. Other than that really any deep looking color- burgundy, hunter green, royal blue, deep violet.
Hope this helped and happy trails.

Well me personally with a palamino I would go medium oil. And on saddle pad color go turquoise and purple. Or maroon. On the saddle though I would but use any old saddle that fit him correctlly. This way if something happens during his training your saddle does not get ruined. And with a young horse make sure you have a good thick pad that breaths. Good luck! He is a nice young man!!
